What the prep covers
The finish only looks as good as the wall underneath it. On a typical interior job:
- Furniture moved and covered; floors, counters and fixtures masked.
- Nail holes, dings and cracks filled and sanded smooth.
- Gaps at trim and casing caulked so the cut line stays crisp.
- Stains and patches primed so the finish dries to one even sheen.
Room by room
Kitchens get washable finishes that stand up to cooking and hands. Bathrooms get paint made for moisture, so it resists mildew. Bedrooms and living rooms are where colour does the most work - and where an accent wall, stripes or a textured feature can change the room. James will help you choose colours and sheens at the estimate.
Choosing a sheen
Flat and matte hide flaws and suit ceilings and formal rooms, but mark more easily. Eggshell and satin wipe clean, which suits hallways, kids' rooms and family rooms. Semi-gloss belongs on trim, doors and bathrooms. Low-VOC options are available if you want less odour.
Homes built before 1978
Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint. Anyone paid to disturb painted surfaces in those homes is covered by the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule, which sets how the work is contained and cleaned up. If your home is that age, mention it when you call.
